Album Info:Here is a five-page camera study by Mr. Don Wood entitled "Piggyback Performance: Pennsy's TT1." It was published originally in the July 1960 issue of "Trains" magazine, pages 46-50. This article recounts the author's 900-mile journey on the PRR's Trailer Train #1 from Kearny, New Jersey, to Chicago on 06 February 1960 ~ in 25 hours and 40 minutes!

Description:  Here is page one of a five-page camera study by Don Wood entitled "Piggyback Performance: Pennsy's TT1." It was published originally in the July 1960 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 46. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #4804 and another unit whose number is not recorded. Both are GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electrics rated at 4,620 horsepower each. #4804 was built by General Electric during June of 1935 and retired in June of 1966 after 31 years of faithful service. In this context, they're preparing to pull PRR's TT-1 out of Kearny, New Jersey, on the first leg of its 900-mile/26-hour journey to Chicago, Illinois.

Bottom Right-Hand Photo: Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1361, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during May of 1918, retired in September of 1956, enshrined at the Horseshoe Curve on 08 June 1957, restored for excursion service during 1987-1988, withdrawn from service and disassembled because of safety concerns, and still not reassembled/restored/resurrected.
