Album Info:Seems like I was out just about every day in August, with great weather, and a couple of trips to the USA to add a little variety to this month's collection. There's the usual assortment of CN and CP freight trains, plus the Amtrak Maple Leaf, CSX Niagara Yard, Trillium Railways leased GATX switcher, and some cool ALCOs and a Fairbanks Morse US Army switcher at the Rochester and Genesee Valley Railroad depot and yard at Industry, New York.

Description:  What a great way to start August - with CP Train 246 bouncing between CP Welland Yard and CN Southern Yard to exchange freight cars. Here the train approaches the crossing at Netherby Road crossing. Coincidentally, these two fine-looking diesels will also close out my Autumn 2017 collection - I caught them again on August 31st on Train 246.

Description:  I passed over this eastbound train 422 where the QEW Highway crosses the CN Stamford sub, and decided to see if I could get ahead of it for a pic in the sunshine - but I didn't get there in time to set up for a good shot. So I had to settle for this grade crossing shot at Clifton Wye - with a rather sharp looking Dash-8 on the point. The tracks in the foreground lead to the now closed CN Niagara Yard, and the Niagara Falls train station. Only AMTK and GO Transit use this section of track now.

Description:  The sun played some nasty tricks today as I tried to catch the CP/CN freight transfer at Southern Yard - behind two sparkling CP ECO units. After two attempts - one at Brookfield Wye as the train crossed from CP to CN tracks, and again at Southern Yard on the return trip - thick clouds blocked the sunshine. Undeterred, I headed for one more try at Miller Road overpass, and the sun finally came out - literally as the train rounded the wye and came into view. I had just met fellow railfan Daniel at Southern Yard and he followed me to Miller Road. We both were totally second guessing as the sun stayed behind the clouds, and it sure looked like we weren't going to get a decent pic with the sun out. But our patience paid off.
