His captions are quoted from his book entitled "I Remember Pennsy" that was published by Audio-Visual Designs of Earlton, New York, during 1973.

Photo Caption: "More than a quarter of a century after her famous dash of 1927, E6s 460 stands beside a water plug in Atlantic City, N.J., in 1954." Pennsylvania Railroad engine #460 is an E-6S (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built in Juniata during August of 1914 and presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. Wood. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide (converted to B&W) of a photo by Don Wood that was taken in Morgan, New Jersey, in September of 1954. Shown here (F to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #830 and #1983. Both are K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacifics" built in Juniata. #830 was built in July of 1917 and retired in April of 1958, while #1983 was built in March of 1918 and retired in December of 1955. Mr. Woods' Caption: "Engines 830 and 1983 have just crossed Cheesequake Creek bridge at Morgan Station on the last leg of the journey from Bay Head to South Amboy. Train is No. 782." Wood. Here is an image of a photo by Don Wood that was taken near Duncannon, Pennsylvania, c. 1954. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6738, an M-1B (4-8-2) "Mountain" built as an M-1A by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during June of 1930, rebuilt in Juniata as an M-1B in October of 1948, and retired in September of 1959. Also visible to the right is PRR engine #920, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata in July of 1917 and retired in 1959. This freight train has just departed the Enola Yards for Altoona while paralleling the left-to-right-flowing Susquehanna River on a brisk Winter's afternoon. Edward Kaspriske Collection.

PRR 3751, K-4S, c. 1955
Description:
Wood. Here is an image of a photo by Don Wood that was taken near Matawan, New Jersey, c. 1955. Wood's Caption: "3751 & 1361 on the move up Matawan Hill at milepost 6. That's fireman Ferdinand Norman leaning out of 3751's cab. Train 784 was usually double-headed on Sunday as part of a power transfer move." #3751 and #1361 are both K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacifics" built in Juniata. #3751 was constructed in April of 1920 and retired in November of 1957. #1361 was built in May of 1918, retired in September of 1956, enshrined at the Horseshoe Curve on 8 June 1957, restored for excursion service during 1987-1988, withdrawn from service and disassembled because of safety concerns, and is now being restored again for further excursion service. Wood. Here is an image of a photo by Don Wood that was taken near Bay Head Junction, New Jersey, c. 1956. Wood's Caption: "Bay Head Jct. afforded many opportunities for shooting the unusual. Case in point: K-4's 5439 and 3750 flank passenger 'Shark' 5783." #5439 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during March of 1927 and retired in April of 1958. #3750 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" constructed in Juniata as number "3750" in March of 1920, renumbered "1737" in 1956, and presently on display as number "3750" at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. And #5783 is a BP-20 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in November of 1948, rated at 2,000 horsepower, and retired in November of 1964. William E. Burket Collection.

The time was October, 1957, three weeks before the end of all steam operations on the Pennsylvania R.R. Photo by Don Wood." #5439 is a K-4S (4-6-2) built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during March of 1927 and retired in April of 1958 after 31 years of faithful service. Mr. Woods' Caption: "K4 5439 poses in the doorway of South Amboy enginehouse. The time was late on two counts: the 1:30 AM photo time plus the curtain coming down on the career of the engine herself, as well as for all Pennsy steam. The end was less than a month away, at this was October, 1957."

Wood. Here is a photo by Don Wood that was taken in Northumberland, Pennsylvania, on Monday, 13 May 1968. It comes from an article by Robert Emerson & Kurt Bell entitled "The Pennsylvania Railroad's Historical Collection" that was published in the Fall 1996 issue of "Vintage Rails," pages 82-83. Partial Caption: "In the roundhouse, Nos. 460, 2846, 7688, and 94 shine brightly as afternoon sunlight shows off the new paint jobs." Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #460, #2846, #7688, and #94; all are presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. #460 is an E-6S (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built in Juniata in August of 1914. #2846 is an H-6SB (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an H-6B in November of 1905 and rebuilt in Juniata as an H-6SB in November of 1913. #7688 is an H-10S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the Lima Locomotive Works in September of 1915. And #94 is an A-5S (0-4-0) switcher built in Juniata in January of 1917.
