NS power at Mobile yard.
Title:  NS power at Mobile yard.
Description:  NS Mobile yard is small but doesnt need to be too big. With only 6 trains per day and a couple locals, this is enough for supporting traffic. NS power sits quietly as a train across the yard works some cars (out of picture, of course). This is the southern most end for operations on NS in Alabama.

Description:  Local power for "super local" M789/790... The Baldwin to Chattahooche local that would run tri weekly in both directions. This was one of the last trains to traverse this line just before CSX would remove their locomotives and other equipment for the new owners. Hard to believe an end of an era was very near.

AN 721.
Title:  AN 721.
Description:  My absolute favorite road in Florida is the AN. The Apalachicola Northerns blue and white scheme was simple but yet sweet and is classy. Here, basking in the sun- AN 721 is the last AN GP15-T to be in the blue and white scheme as the railroad was purchased by GWI in 05 and operations would go downhill from there. The AN operates once a week now and only runs between Chattahoochee and Hosford, FL to GP. Rumor has it the 721 will be dipped once mechanical repairs at Panama Citys Bayline shops is complete.

Old Amtrak "station".
Title:  Old Amtrak "station".
Description:  the old Amtrak station at Madison, FL consisted of a 700 foot platform and a gazebo with "Madison, Florida" on the sign. In 2005, hurricane Katrina would destroy gulf coast lines of csx in Mississippi and Louisiana and the federal government would decide to terminate Amtrak in the Florida panhandle. Today, the station sits as a reminder to better times as now the Florida, Gulf and Atlantic operates on these rails.
