Album Info:CN, CP and Trillium Railways share the spotlight. And I was in the right place at the right time for the brakeman on CN Train 421 to toss me a snappy CN lapel pin from the cab window as the train pulled into Port Robinson yard.

Description:  My first pass by at the little Trillium Railways yard netted three of their locomotives resting. Shortly after, I heard GMTX 340 approaching, but missed it arriving at the yard to join the crowd. Behind the locomotives - a string of expired grain hoppers waiting to be scrapped.

Description:  I didn't even see the brakeman toss the tiny plastic bag with the pin in it, and the bag ended up on the ground near where I had been set up for the shot with my tripod. It wasn't until the train finally stopped at the other end of the yard that Ken the brakeman approached me and told me the pin was still back where he tossed it.

Description:  Train 421 arrives. It was here that Ken the brakeman stepped off the train and approached me to tell me that he'd thrown the lapel pin out the window at me, way back at the north end of the yard! Naturally, I hopped right back into my car and sped back to find the pin laying in the grass where Ken had tossed it. Nice guy. Totally made my day.

Description:  The Prize! I had a nice chat with Ken the brakeman. They see me almost daily, and they know I'm always respectful, stay well clear of the tracks (most of the time), and try not to cause them any annoyance. (My wife told me I should have cropped this picture a little better, and taken my grizzled mug out of the shot)!
