I143 (Louisville, KY - Jacksonville, FL) passes through CP Vine Hill on the south side of Nashville. Vine Hill is where CSX interchanges with the Nashville & Eastern shortline. An interlocking tower stood just behind the post office (the brick building in the left of the photo) until 1998. During the pre-WWII era a microphone was set up at the tower in order to broadcast the daily passing of L & N's flagship passenger train "The Pan-American" via WSM 650 AM. |
