An era long past
Title:  An era long past
Description:  Ah yes, the moldy oldies. CP 5607 waits with the 5951,6012,SOO 4447, and SOO 2064 near Apache Plaza. The New Brighton/Saint Anthony landmark was being torn down at the time, and although you can barely make out the complex right next to the plow, this scene will never be created again. The rare move was the fact that this train detoured up the Withrow Sub, which only sees the WC daily manifests and a CP Transfer One that runs daily. Photo scanned.

Description:  A nice lashup, that by todays standard would probably make you keel over, waits at New Brighton under morning clouds. The trailing units were WC 7585, IC 6071, and WC 2005. Description:  At the time I was used to GCFX's, but of the Gec Alsthom 6000 variety. One from the CSX batch found its way to the WC Transfer along with an AC44, creating my first image of the "other" GCFX's. Luckily in early 2008 the CP picked up the lease so I was fortunate to shoot some more.

Description:  Yes, for some reason one of the DMIR-assigned SD40-3's found itself on A405 into New Brighton. It is shown here on the WC Transfer, getting wyed so that the IC 6261 would lead the outbound. One of my more strange catches on the WC. Date Approx, photo scanned.

Once Upon a Morning
Title:  Once Upon a Morning
Description:  WC 7528, one of the four SD45's with the V Stripes at the end, is the lead unit of two other Maroon and Gold 20 Cylinders on this fine morning. The train is left in two pieces on the East leg of the wye here, as they must have needed the mainline for a rock train.

Now a Memory
Title:  Now a Memory
Description:  The crew off the coal loads climbs down while the WC Transfer sits across the diamond with WC 7528 leading. Now, the coal trains are gone,the WC 7528 is gone, and even the Trainmaster is no longer at the depot here. About the only thing that isn't vaporized in this shot is the UP 3198, which I saw heading to Superior this morning (3/29/08).

Description:  The veteran will get the lead job today in front of a much newer C44-9W. This was the last time I would see this SD45, as it headed East one last time. This unit ran on the WC a while longer after this shot, and then made rounds and eventually found a home for a few months on the IC.
