Album Info:2001 the first of a new generation of Prima locomotives has been launched by Alstom. The range includes both electric and diesel versions but is centred around an electric multi-voltage European freight locomotive, already ordered by French National Railways (SNCF) in bi- and tri-voltage versions. One of its main advantages is a capability for interoperability throughout Europe. It can be equipped for up to four different voltages--25kV 50Hz, 15kV 16.7Hz, 3kV dc, and 1.5kV dc--coupled with pan-European signalling and safety systems. Information by Alstom, Railcolor.net and other internet resources.

447001 - PRIMA 6000 demonstrator
Title:  447001 - PRIMA 6000 demonstrator
Description:  The Prima EL4U 6000 was developed by Alstom with first run 2004. The goal was to offer an alternative to Siemens EuroSprinter and Bombardier Traxx platform. Compared with other PRIMA units (27000 and 37000 with 4200 kW), it has 6000 kW duration power (hence the name). It is able to run under all four voltage systems generally used in Europe. So far Alstom couldn't sell any type 6000 units. Now the demonstrator rests empty as engine body outside the factory at Belfort.
