This solid 0-8-0 yard switcher started out as Baltimore & Ohio 2-8-0 Consolidation #2526 built by Alco-Schenectady in December of 1905. The B&O Mt Clare Shops rebuilt it to an 0-8-0 configuration in October of 1925 and renumbered it B&O 0-8-0 #639. It served as a yard switcher until being sold for scrap in December of 1952. Rebuilt specs - 62" drivers, 205 psi boiler pressure, 22x30" cylinders, engine wt of 208,500 lb and tractive effort of 40,800 lb. This is an Arthur B. Johnson photo. |
