Starting back
Title:  Starting back
Description:  The excursion train has changed ends and is now on the way back to Bath, the head brakeman having just flagged him over the crossing. This photo show the attractions in Cohocton: the Farm Museum, which chronicled life in the early days of the area, which is still largely agrarian, and the DLW station, which had been nicely restored. The trip was not too bad for a short line. Despite decades of little maintenance, the track was in pretty good shape, a testimony to the Lackawannas engineering. Unofficially, trains could make 40 for a good stretch between here and Bath.

Bath & Hammondsport excursion
Title:  Bath & Hammondsport excursion
Description:  For a short while in the mid 1990s, Bath & Hammondsport ran public trips from Bath to Cohocton on the old DLW main. We see their S 1#5, a frequent participant in these trips, ready to go at Cohocton. The track condition was fairly good, considering the line had been cut as a through route not long after the EL merger, and probably had not had any serious maintenance after that. I rode a train as part of an RRE trip on the line about this time, and we made a good 35-40 MPH on some segments, and the ride was pretty good.

Title:  Onto the main

End of the line
Title:  End of the line
Description:  On May 21 1994 the Southern Tier Division RRE ran a trip on the Bath & Hammondsport that covered all of the line then in operation, and finished with a dinner cruise on Keuka Lake. It was well attneded, and riders got a taste of the traditional B&H as well as a short ride on the ex DLW main from Bath to Cohocton. The DLW part was a trear, as we were making 40 MPH on most of the straight portions, testament to the DLWs fine engineering. Here we see the train ready to go at Cohocton behind #5.
