Treading lightly
Title:  Treading lightly
Description:  BUOIs power rolls gently on the siding past the Arkport lumber yard after spotting a car at the feed mill on the other side of the crossing, whose flashers are at left. For some reason, the crossing protection was placed between the main track and siding. Ive never seen this anywhere else.

Between the signals
Title:  Between the signals
Description:  The same BUOI we saw at Arkport now passes CP Corning after working at Gang Mills. Hes shed some power, now with only his two lead units, the trailing two dropped at Gang Mills yard. Note the curved concrete on the bridge at far left. This is the 1951 alignment that moved the tracks out of the city. The Erie station built at that time was at this location, the platform between the two main tracks, as can be seen from the space that still exists there. The building was down below at street level, with a parking lot at the end of one of the local streets. It was torn down about the time of this photo. The DLW was adjacent to the present tracks, on the right. It was abandoned after the EL merger in 1960. This location was formerly known as West Glass, and was the end of the west leg of the wye that was formed by this connection to the Corning Secondary, which went north from this point to join the Chciago Line at Lyons.

CONRAIL 6493.
Title:  CONRAIL 6493.
Description:  Conrail power seemed to make an appearance in Utah from time to time back in the 1990's. Conrail and Southern Pacific ran an anthracite coal train to Geneva Steel and arrangements would allow for Conrail pool power to stay on the train to Utah. On this day SD40-2 6493 was one of those locomotives. One of the crewmen rides on 6493 as the train is being backed into the yard at Provo due locomotive failure problems with the first unit (Rio Grande 5354).
