Here is an example of the ATSF Albuquerque Shops rebuild of ATSF 2-8-0 #770 into yard switcher ATSF 0-8-0 #770 (built as SFP #267, renumbered AT&SF #3046, renumbered again in 1902 to #770). The rebuild was in August 1934, using the boiler from 529. Originally, it was built by Alco-Richmond as Santa Fe Pacific 2-8-0 #267 with the following specs -class #759, 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 21x30" cylinders. The loco was retired by 1954. ATSF compound 2-8-0 #843 was originally built by Rhode Island in Januray of 1902 before the company joined the ALCo family (serial #3370). The 2-8-0 compound Consolidation was simplified in September of 1919 at ATSF Shops in San Bernadrdino, CA. Later it was rebuilt by ATSF shops in Topeka, KS into ATSF 0-8-0 #843 in June of 1924 as seen in this later photo. The converted switcher lasted in service until being sold for scrap on 7/1/1954 to Midvale iron & Supply Comapny.
