Description:  Somewhat confusing background on this loco. It appears that it was built by Motive Power Industries of Boise, ID in May of 1998 as their demonstrator #2002, serial #2396-02. It must have been sold to the NOPB afterward. No date or photographer was listed for this nice color slide unfortunately so an approximate date based on loco condition and paint was used.

Description:  The 2003 convention of the American Association of Private Railroad Car Owners was held in New Orleans, and one of the activities was a trip over the New Orleans Public Belt for 10 of the 30 cars which attended. Here is the eastbound special descending the HUEY P. LONG BRIDGE on its way back to New Orleans with NOPB MP2000D 2002 CRESCENT, private car CHAPEL HILL, Northern Pacific VISTA DOME, sleeper BIRCH GROVE, private car OLIVER HAZARD PERRY, sleeper-lounge NORTHERN DREAMS, dome cars NORTHERN SKY, SIERRA HOTEL and PUGET SOUND, private cars GEORGIA 300 and HENRY E. HUNTINGTON and NOPB MP1500D 1501 BLACK MAGIC.

Description:  While NOPB now runs bridge excursions with its two restored Wabash pullman coaches, a NOPB "passenger train" in 2003 was a rare event. In this case, the Belt provided engines 1501 (now 2008) and 2002 for an 10-coach AAPRCO bridge excursion. The American Association of Private Railroad Car Owners held their 2003 convention at the NO Union Passenger Terminal. Ten of the 30-some cars at NOUPT were selected for the bridge trip.
