PSTC Valley Forge
Title:  PSTC Valley Forge
Description:  Philadelphia Suburban Transportation Company "Valley Forge" at Bryn Mawr on an unknown day in July 1964, Kodachrome by unknown photographer, Chuck Zeiler collection. This was ex-CNS&M 801-802. The PSTC people didin't seem to be too proud of the names Liberty Liner or Valley Forge. Note the small painted lettering above the first passenger window after the railfan's seat.

DCRY 3
Title:  DCRY 3
Description:  Detroit Citizens Railway 3 at Detroit, Michigan on an unknown day in November 1981, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 3 was built in 1899 by the Saint Louis Car Company for the Compania Carro de Ferro de Lisboa, ( CCFL ), Lisbon, Portugal, one of 75 single truck closed cars on Job 84. The 75 cars were of 900 mm gauge, road numbers 1-75, later renumbered 400-474. Number 3 was number 469 in Lisbon. Title:  DCRY 3
Description:  Detroit Citizens Railway 3 and 4 at Detroit, Michigan on March 27, 1983, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 4 is a little more difficult to pin down. One source claims that Number 4 was also from Lisbon, built by StLCC in 1925, but I cannot confirm that in the book, From Horsecars To Streamliners, An Illustrated History of the Saint Louis Car Company. The book notes that cars 405, 412, 457, and 469 from Lisbon were sold to the City of Detroit in 1976, becoming DCRY 1, 2, parts, and 3, in that sequence.

DCRY 6
Title:  DCRY 6
Description:  Detroit Citizens Railway 6 at Detroit, Michigan on an unknown day in November 1981, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 6 was one of 75 single truck closed cars built by the Saint Louis Car Company on Job 84 dated November 16, 1899 for the Compania Carro de Ferro de Lisboa, ( CCFL ), Lisbon, Portugal, road numbers 1-75, later, 400-474. In 1976, as part of the Bicentennial celebration, the City of Detroit built a narrow (900 mm or 2 foot 11 7/16 inch) gauge tram from the Grand Circus Park to the Renaissance Center along Washington Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue, using several trams from Lisbon, Portugal. The tram was originally just 3/4 miles long, but was extended 1/4 mile to the Renaissance Center in 1980. The tram lasted until 2003, when the wire and tracks were removed, the shop building (seen behind the car) was demolished, and the street returned to rubber-tired vehicles. Some, if not all, of the DCRY cars (there were nine) are rumored to be stored somewhere.

TTC 60
Title:  TTC 60
Description:  In 1901 the Denison and Sherman Railway opened as the first interurban rail line in Texas, connecting the towns of Denison and Sherman with ten miles of track. This line was purchased in 1911 by the Texas Traction Company, who had constructed a sixty-five-mile line of their own from Dallas to Sherman and began operation in 1908. Seeing a need to expand in other directions, the owners of the Texas Traction Company purchased a twenty-eight-mile line from Dallas to Waxahachie in 1912. Built by the Dallas Southern Traction Company, the company became known as the Southern Traction Company and the rail line extended to Waco in 1913. A separate fifty-six-mile line from Dallas to Corsicana was also completed. In 1917 the Texas Traction Company and the Southern Traction Company merged to form the Texas Electric Railway Company and became the largest interurban railway in the South with more than 200 miles of track. The interurban became a vital link for communities until the popularity of the automobile caused a decline in revenue. The Dallas-Corsicana branch was discontinued in 1941 and the Dallas-Waco and Dallas-Denison branches closed in 1948.
