Up and Down
Title:  Up and Down
Description:  The Sydney to Melbourne Main South features an undulating profile through a good portion of its path with grades up to 2.5% frequently encountered. This "up" (towards Sydney, eastbound in this case) container train is climbing a long stretch of 1.5% between Goondah and Bowning. Original English-influenced clearances on this line (particularly numerous stone road overpasses) limit trains to single-stack only.

Pacific National on the Standard Gauge
Title:  Pacific National on the Standard Gauge
Description:  A southbound Pacific National container train approaches Seymour Vic. on a cloudy Sunday. The southbound container train (behind a typically eclectic batch of power, NR40, G542 and DL39) is running on the "East Line" standard gauge track, which dates from 1962 when Victoria Railways put in a standard gauge line from Melbourne to the New South Wales (and Sydney) connection at Albury. The middle track here is the "West Line" which was converted from broad gauge in 2010, making the Melbourne-Sydney route entirely standard gauge when finished; the remainder, from Benalla to Wodonga is expected to be converted in 2011. The track to the far left is broad gauge, running towards Shepparton.

Title:  South out of the Border Range
Description:  Three Pacific National units bring a Brisbane to Melbourne container train south through the NSW countryside on a beautiful Sunday morning. NR45 is followed by NR73 and 9211. Title:  Pacific National
Description:  NR76 was built by United Goninan - Bassendean, WA. It runs on standard gauge 4' 8.5" (1435mm). The CoCo NR Class introduced many new features. These were the first locomotives in Australia to have "variable horsepower", which meant that the power output of the engine had three different settings, making the NR class the most fuel-efficient locomotives in Australia. They have GE 7FDL-16 engines, with power levels of 2,850 hp (2,130 kW), 3,560 hp (2,650 kW) or 4,020 hp (3,000 kW).
