Station display |
Description: |
Part of the Canadian Rail Transportation Museum. The depot originally stood in Elko, and was moved to Cranbrook in 1987. there were no reporting marks on the FA's, but I am fairly sure they are ex VIA ex CP. The units are in bad shape though, stripped of traction motors, most of the glass is broken or missing, and the prime motors have parts stolen off them. |

Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9614 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by the American Locomotive Company. #9614 is an AF-16 constructed in May of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. The presence of an air horn in the foreground suggests that this photo was taken from an interlocking tower. Photo via Bob Hanson. ("Garr254" A; #3 of 6) |
