WATX 400 - Former ACL Diner "Moultrie"
Title:  WATX 400 - Former ACL Diner "Moultrie"
Description:  Pullman-Standard built this 36 seat dining car in April of 1950 as Moultrie assigned to the Atlantic Coast Line and later SCL #5954. It operated on New York to Miami trains until 1971. With the formation of AMTRAK, the diner continued Florida service as AMTK #8084 until 1981 when AMTRAK sold the car to a short-line dinner train operation in Virginia. The Watauga Valley Chapter NRHS purchased the car in 1989, completely upgrading the mechanical systems to AMTRAK standards and fully renovating the interior. It was assigned AAR reporting mark WATX 400.

Description:  Is the Atlantic Coastline Moultree where I am assisting in cooking for over 500 hungry passengers. For breakfast we made a lovely warm omelet. While for dinner we made prime rib, chicken, or vegetarian pasta, with mashed potato, and green beans. And we also assembled box lunches for tour groups who went one way.
