SP SD7 1413  Contributor's Pick!
Southern Pacific SD7 1413 is working as a heavy switcher at El Paso in January 1974; it's just retrieved a cut of cars from the MP yard and is returning to Cotton Street. 1413 was on the third of its four numbers on SP, being built as 5292, then holding 2713, 1413 and, finally, 1500.

Jerry LaBoda General A rare shot! Espee typically only applied the red sill stripe to switchers so to find an SD7 or SD9 with one is extremely rare. Thanks for sharing this prototype oddity!!! 1/10/2009 10:04:13 PM
Steve E General Ah, the SP and their " Beer Keg " headlight ! 4/12/2009 2:14:01 PM
