In January 1978 we enjoyed one of the worst blizzards I can remember. It was 44 degrees when I came to work at 11:00 PM. At about 1:30 AM, we derailed under this bridge. Since we were stuck on the tail track we were captive here. By about 3:00 AM we were back in business. In the meantime it had gotten quite cold and windy. By daylight it was -6 degrees with up to 100 mph wind gusts. I had on everything I owned. |
