| Kansas City Southern GP40 763 was parked at WEST YARD, just outside of New Orleans. It had been built in September 1968 as Penn Central 3134 (EMD 34311) and was acquired by the KCS in October 1983, after its initial 15-year lease expired. KCS sent it to Morrison- Knudsen’s BOISE LOCOMOTIVE SHOP in September 1991 as partial payment for upgrading 16 GP40’s into GP40M-2’s 4780-4795, and M-K remanufactured it into New Jersey Transit GP40PH-2 4150 in April 1993. |
