| Kansas City Southern GP40 773 was parked at WEST YARD, just outside of New Orleans. It had been built in September 1968 as Penn Central 3148 (EMD 34325) and was acquired by the KCS in October 1983, after its initial 15-year lease expired. KCS sent it to Morrison- Knudsen’s BOISE LOCOMOTIVE SHOP in September 1991 to be upgraded into a GP40M-2, and it was released as KCS 4786 on 5 December 1991. It was subsequently renumbered 2831. |
