MILW F7 83A
MILW F7 83A, Bensenville, Illinois, April 1981, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Due to the Milwaukee's renumbering and conflicting source information, the following is my best guess: This locomotive was built as number 110C in December 1950 (c/n 11803) on EMD Order 3036A. At some point it was renumbered to 83A and retired in May 1980.

It is seen here stored with SE3 and 83C. The SE3 was built in November 1951 as F7B 118B (c/n 15226). The prime mover and fuel tank have been removed and it is a booster unit slaved electrically to the cab units. The 83C was built as 72C in July 1950 (c/n 10318), renumbered to 83C and retired in May 1980. It appears that both cab units ended up at the Indiana Transportaion Museum painted as Monon units. Barely visible over the cab of the 83C and to the left of SD45 #15's rear radiator fan is a plane landing at O'Hare Airport.

Nathan Bilger General Great photo. 83A and 83C are both at ITM. 83A is in Monon colors and operable, 83C is being restored to its as-built state as 72C. 8/31/2010 10:25:25 AM
Alan Fricker General I think this was one of the Tacoma slug sets. 1/6/2012 11:32:31 AM
