The UP-NS run-through train from Houston to Birmingham sits on the New Orleans Public Belt at the east end of the Huey P. Long Bridge, waiting for a clear signal on to the NS BACK BELT. The locomotives are Norfolk & Western C36-7's 8511 and 8516. When this photo was taken, N&W units were still unusual on this end of the NS. The building in the right background was the corporate headquarters of Popeye's Famous Fried Chicken. |
