RailServe unit in the CN yard. Never seen this one before, I think this is a SW7? Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Doug Wolfe General Interesting catch here, Lewis! The RSSX roster listed a "?". It appears it has been used by U.S. Development Group in Bayport, Texas. I can't find any pictures of it other than your shot! 3/20/2010 5:16:33 PM
Doug Wolfe General Lewis-Found a photo of this on the Railserve site. It is a rebuild. Now a low emission Gen-Set DX370M. The leaf logo is to symbolize the low emissions features. I love researching stuff. 3/20/2010 5:42:15 PM
George Redmond General Nice catch, Nice shot. 3/23/2010 10:30:25 PM
Switchman Images General Great catch, how many units does Railserve now have @ ADM in town? They have both the Tate & Lyle and ADM contracts for rail switching now. I show a GP8 and GP7R currently @ ADM in their North Yard, but I thought there was a total of 4. 5/22/2010 8:49:19 PM
Switchman Images General Doug, where did you find a reference to the "DX370M" from? This is the first I've seen of this model designation. 5/22/2010 8:49:55 PM
J Thomas General This is a Railserve LEAF (Lower Emissions And Fuel) genset conversion. Railserve has been rebuilding these from various loco models since 2008. There is more info on these units at http://www.railserveinc.com/leaf.html. They use a single Detroit Diesel DX370M 550hp genset. 2/16/2011 8:52:25 PM
Edward Kerns II General Classed as a SW1200 originally 12/29/2012 3:27:40 PM
Mike Murray General I believe that was the first LEAF. 1/3/2014 11:53:23 PM
Mike Murray General RSSX 1220 LEAF (EMD 10761, 9/50, 4038-10, ex-RSSX 1220, ex-OxyChem 1220, ex-IT SW7m 1220, nee-UP SW7 1809) 1/3/2014 11:53:55 PM
Mark Carron General Adding to Mike's comment, after IT it was N&W 1220 and then Cahohia Marine Service 1220 (will post picture when I get a chance). With IT and CMSX (and probably UP) it had a 5 chime air horn. Also, it you look closely, you can see where the classification lights above the radiator were removed and the holes covered with metal discs. 6/22/2014 9:21:25 AM
Mark Carron General I have been trying to research this unit some more since my 2014 comment. Contrary to what I said in that comment, it may not have been a CMSX unit. It may have been leased, but I do not know who was the lessor. It was painted red (about the same shade as TRRA's units at the time that I took my picture of it) with white handrails, frame and walkways. The front end (and probably the rear end too) had red and white hash marks. The stacks were silver. The paint looked like it was hastily applied since there was red overspray on the stacks and white overspray on the body above the walkways. It had no markings. The only number was in the casing alongside the headlight. 5/13/2023 7:19:24 PM
