BWCX. Here is the second of five successive original 35mm color slides (converted to B&W) that were taken at the Berwind-White Railroad Car Shops in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 12 April 1960. Pictured at the left is the Vulcan 0-4-0T steam locomotive named "Nancy." The builder's badge indicates "Vulcan Locomotive Works ~ 1918." In this context, "Nancy" is shifting Transport Leasing Company's car #172, an F-85B flatcar capable of carrying two highway trailers. The Car Shop Offices are located in the structure in the middle of the photo, while the smokestack marks the location of the coal-fired Power Plant. Brush Mountain dominates the distance. |
