This has to be one of the most forlorn or saddest photos I ever took. It's good that this steamer has survived--thousands of other steam engines were cut up for scrap in the 50's and earlier. But it doesn't (didn't) have a cab, it's anybody's guess when it was last painted, and rust seems to be taking its toll. This engine was part of the exhibit in western Huntington, WV and may still be there--I haven't been to that part of the city in several years. |
