| Here is another example of a 1942 Lima class GS-4 "Northern" type locomotive, although Southern Pacific preferred to call it a "Golden State" type. It rode on 80" drivers and produced a whopping 300 psi boiler pressure. From the label at the bottom of the photo, it appears this was taken during a fan trip in June of 1955. The lucky photographer to capture this moment was Elroy Giffin, a lucky man! |
