Ayres Rd  Contributor's Pick!
The other end, not the one youre familiar with. The Tioga Center semaphores were at the east end of Ayres Rd. The west end once crossed the tracks on the bridge seen here, but the bridge was closed in the late 80s when it needed significant repair. The Erie had build a number of these bridges over local roads, but never really did much to maintain them. Once they became deficient, there was a lot of finger pointing with the county or town over whose responsibility it was to fix it. Since no one wanted to spend the money-and Conrail surely wasnt-most of them were closed. It would have made a good place to shoot pictures from had the deck not been removed.
