MP 4-8-2 #5341 - Missouri Pacific  Contributor's Pick!       
One of the last Mountain type 4-8-2 Alco built locomotives for the Missouri Pacific standing here at the St Louis Union Station with its passenger consist. The loco lasted in service until being retired in April of 1956 at North Little Rock, AR. Specifics - class, MT-73-1927, 73" drivers, impressive 250 psi boiler pressure, 27x30" cylinders, engine weight of 396,000 lb, tractive effort of 63,663 lb. All ten in this last group from Alco had power reverse gear, BK stokers, Worthington 4 1/4 BL 2 feed water heaters, cast steel locomotive beds, and roller bearings. Unknown photographer.
