| 17th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during the Spring of 1960. Shown here are PRR engines #8608 and #8610. Both are APS-24MS's built by the American Locomotive Company and rated at 2,400 horsepower each. #8608 was built in 1955, but #8610 was built in 1956. They are pushing a westbound mail/express train under the 17th Street Bridge. Also visible is N-5 Caboose #5010, for mail/express service only. The words under the number "5010" are as follows: "ASSIGNED TO PASSENGER SERVICE // RAILWAY EXPRESS AGENCY" |
