Amtrak's Sunset Limited sits under the lights at the Houston Amtrak Station due to some unusual circumstances in mid-March 2016. Due to heavy rains and flooding, Union Pacific's bridge over the Sabine River on the Texas-Louisiana border was closed for a week. The bridge was shut down early on the morning of March 15th as Amtrak #2, the eastbound Sunset Limited, was traveling between San Antonio and Houston. Amtrak decided to terminate Train #2 at Houston and turn the consist there (This picture was taken that night). The following day, passengers were bussed to Houston and the consist left westward from Houston as Train #1 on the evening of the 16th. |
