This S1 was built as Alco serial no. 69500 in August 1941. It was originally Texas Pacific-Missouri Pacific Terminal Railroad of New Orleans (TPMPT) No. 4, and was renumbered 6603 in 1962; but notice the TPMP lettering under the emblem on the cab. The engine was retired in February 1967 and sold to Morrell & Co. at Ottumwa, Iowa via dealer George Silcott. It was photographed at the TPMPT’s Race Street Yard, under the Greater New Orleans Mississippi River Bridge. |
