PRR 8661, AS-18AM, 1964         
12th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 28 July 1964. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #8661, #8657, #8667, #9690, and #9776. #8661, #8657, and # 8667 are AS-18AM's built by the American Locomotive Company and rated at 1,800 horsepower each. #8661 and #8667 were built in 1958, but # 8657 was built in 1957. #9690 is an EH-15 built by EMD in 1949 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. #9776 is an EF-15A built by EMD in 1951 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They are pulling a 59-car westbound freight train with caboose #477806. They have just passed under the 12th Street Bridge and are right in front of the Altoona Passenger Station.
