BRC 2-10-2 #4 - Belt Rwy of Chicago  Contributor's Pick!       
Originally built for the Chicago & Western Indiana by Baldwin in 1918, this loco and its 4 other sisters were immediately leased to the Belt Rwy of Chicago for heavy duty switching. Specifics - 58" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 30x32" cylinders, engine weight of 397,200 lb, tractive effort of 84,414 lb. Scrapped November of 1950. Howard Davis photo

Alan Fricker General Fred, for heavy duty switching and lugging ability you needed smaller drivers. Bigger drivers are great for speed but not lugging ability in many cases. 12/19/2016 8:50:42 PM
