A pair of New York, New Haven & Hartford GP9's heads up train #71 in this color slide by an unknown photographer. Unusual consits behind. Are those milk cars behind the open door baggage car?

Violet Gayzagian General The cars behind the lead car are either express freight or mail storage cars. I know it was common for these cars to be rebuilt from WWII-era troop sleepers but I can't tell if that applies here. It's common for interstate trains of this era to have long head-ends like this because that's where most of the revenue was coming from. 1/23/2020 2:24:33 PM
