May 24 was the first run for the Yadkin Valley Railroads GP40-2LW #9548 on the L&C. The train is seen here in Chester just as the rew was about to call it a day. The 9548 will get L&C lettering, but no blue paint yet. While the two engines behind it were the railroads first six axle power, the 9548 is their first wide nose locomotive. It was built in 1975 for the Canadian National. |
