| Illinois Central Gulf E9A 2039 and Amtrak E8A 208 were on train No. 58, the northbound PANAMA LIMITED, in New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal. The flat number boxes on the 2039 identify this as one of five former Florida East Coast E9A's (1031-1035) acquired by the Illinois Central from Precision National Corporation in 1969 as IC 2036-2040. The 2039 was one of at least six ICG E-units painted in Amtrak colors while on lease to the new railroad. (approximate date) |
