A hidden jewel inside its protective shed is this 1924 Lima built Shay whose original purchase price was purchase price was $16,291. Due to a forest fire that wiped out a large volume of timber, the loco was idled in 1945 and eventually put on display at Paldi. The unit was donated to the Cowichan Valley Forest Museum which later was renamed the BC Forest Discovery Centre. In 1995 it was restored to operating condition and now makes an occasional active appearance at the Centre.
