Rolling Through a Signal Suspension
If you look closely at this picture, something may seem a little off. And that's because the crossing signals are dark, despite there being a train in the crossing! As part of UP's activation of the new Main 1 along 10 miles of the Glidden Subdivision, a signal suspension was put into place. This affected block signals and crossing gates. As a result, flagmen were posted at every crossing in Sugar Land to protect cars from the passage of trains.
