Photo Caption: "White-faced G-5 Ten-Wheeler receives the final homage of a trainload of railroad enthusiasts and photographers as steam bows out of the picture on Long Island Railroad October 16, 1955. The 4-6-0 poses here at Bliss Tower." Shown here is LIRR engine #35, a G-5S (4-6-0) "Ten-Wheeler" built by the Pennsylvania Railroad in Juniata during September of 1928 and retired in October of 1955 after 27 years of faithful service. |
