Illinois Central Gulf GP8 7711 was entering the short spur at Florenville, Louisiana several days after a wreck which had been cause by vandalism at this switch. The switch had been tampered with, causing the southbound SHORE LINE LOCAL out of Bogalusa to collide with some cars that were stored on the spur. The 7711 was on the southbound LOCAL several days later and had just uncoupled from its train. It was entering the spur to retrieve a gondola loaded with rebar which had just been rerailed, and then the LOCAL pushed the car to Slidell. (approximate date of photo) |
