PRR 9787, EF-15A, 1965
ARB. Here is an original 35mm color slide by Frank Ries that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in August of 1965. Prominent here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9787 and a pair of "EF" Class B-units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9787 was constructed in February of 1951 and retired in December of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. Partially visible in the distance is the PRR's Erecting & Machine Shop. Photo taken from the 8th Street Bridge in Juniata.
