Here is an original photo by Douglas C. Jones that was taken from the 17th Street Bridge in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6727, an M-1A (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during May of 1930 and retired in August of 1956 after 26 years of faithful service. Note that the main driving rods have been removed. The road numbers of the other deadlined locomotives pictured here are not recorded. |
