The locomotive had been built in December 1963 as Chicago, Burlington & Quincy GP35 980 and was renumbered Burlington Northern 2526 after the BN merger on 2 March 1970. EMD rebuilt it into GP39E 2938 in August 1990, and it retained the same number on the BNSF. |
