Amtrak 437 was parked outside of the diesel shop at New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal. The locomotive had been built as Richmond Fredericksburg & Potomac E8A 1001 and was renumbered Amtrak 213. Amtrak upgraded it into an E9, but it retained number 213 until it was renumbered 437 to make 213 available for use on a new F40 which was built in April 1976. It was sold for scrap to Precision National Corp. in 1981. |
