Badly-faded New Orleans & Gulf Coast GP7u 2180 (frame no. 5200-7) was parked in the New Orleans & Gulf Coast yard at Belle Chasse, Louisiana, along with Idaho Northern & Pacific GP16 1707. This unique purple paint scheme was applied by the locomotive’s previous owner, the New Orleans Lower Coast Railroad (NOLR). The 2180 began life in October 1952 as Santa Fe GP7 2799, was upgraded into ATSF 2180 in January 1980, and arrived on the NOLR in October 1994. |
