Canadian National grain train G-840 was northbound at Destrehan, Louisiana – en route from Council Bluffs, Iowa to the grain elevator at Helvetia, Louisiana – behind Illinois Central C40-8W 2464 and SD40-2 6137. The 2464 had been built in September 1994 as LMS 737, became IC 2464 in 2001 and was retired in 2012 after an accident on the CSX; while the 6137 had been built in March 1976 as Burlington Northern 6746, went to the IC in August 1991 and was retired in 2010. G-840 had 28 cars of mixed freight and 92 grain loads. |
