DMIR 0-10-2 #604 - Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range
Here is an example of the largest steam locomotive without a front truck ever built in the US. Built by Baldwin in June of 1936, it was intended for the Union RR as their #304. When the URR dieselized, it was sold to the DMIR to become their #604. In 1963, the loco was acquired by the Bessemer & Lake Erie. Eventually it was put on display in the Greenville Railroad Park. The photo is from the Howard W. Ameling collection.
