Here is page one of an 11-page cover article by Bert Pennypacker entitled "Atterbury's Engines: Part 1 ~ Great Increases In Horsepower And Speed." It was published originally in the October 1979 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 22. Photo Caption: "Summer of '46: M-1 6848 brings westbound merchandise into Delphos, O., with the fireman already on top of the tank to take water when the engineer makes his spot at the plug. General Atterbury (insert) would have been gratified with the recently concluded war work of 'his' 4-8-2's (he paid for prototype)." Photo by Richard J. Cook. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6848, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during September of 1926 and retired in May of 1956 after 30 years of faithful service..
