PRR 3847, K-4S, 1948         
Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Chicago, Illinois, in September of 1948. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3847, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during April of 1923, rebuilt by Lima with rotary cam poppet valves in 1939, and retired in November of 1953 after 30 years of faithful service. The name of the Hostler pictured here is not recorded. Gary Mittner Collection.
